Here
are a few photos from our trip to Old Orchard Beach, ME last week. We
went from Thursday to Saturday. My inlaws kept Katelyn. I wasn't sure
how she or I was going to do but we both did great. She slept well, ate
well, and played well for nana and grampy. I did better knowing she was
doing fine Here is a quick summary of what we did: Thursday afternoon-Arrived,
relaxed in hotel room. We had dinner at a local resteraunt where I had
a FABULOUS baked lobster pie. Hmm..I'm am salivating now just thinking
about it. Friday-Left
early in the morning to go to OOB beach. The weather was PERFECT!!! We
found parking right away and there was hardly anyone on the beach. We
took out our beach chairs and relaxed, read and looked at the beautiful
ocean. I got in the water up to my ankles for a bit. Since Mike wasn't
feeling well he slept a little in his chair and then we went for a
short walk down the beach. We then walked around the "down town" parts
around the beach and had "beach food" for lunch. We also window and
souvenire shopped for a bit. We had some delicious deep friend oreos
and twinkies. The oreos and twinkies are rolled in batter similar to
fried dough, fried and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Definitely a
new experience Saturday- We
checked out early and headed to Kittery to the Trading Post. We shopped
there for a bit and I got Katelyn yet more Maine souvenirs Here are the pics View from our beach chairs :O) One of the beach streets Mike enjoying a deep fried oreo The Pier is exactly what it sounds like. It is a pier that goes into
the ocean but has little shops, restaurants and bars on it. It was
pretty neat "inside". (top and bottom) us being silly at the Kittery Trading Post We hope to do this again sometime. Maybe we'll even take Kate next time!
We
stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Saco which wasn't very far from the
beach. The hotel was great and served a fantastic continental breakfast
every morning. They also served free coffee all day long which I
enjoyed immensly.
Mike
unfortunately was sick the whole time we were there! Big bummer. He had
a bad cough and was feeling "flu-ish" the whole time. He was a good
sport and tried to have a good time for the most part. We stopped for
him to rest when we were out and didn't stay away from the hotel for
long stretches of time. It was nice to just be able to relax in the
hotel room and watch cable tv or read a book!![]()
I
guess you can deep fry just about anything these days!LOL We left the
beach and saw "Barnyard" at the local cinema. From there we went back
to our hotel room to relax and shower. That night we ate dinner at The
Mall Of Maine and walked around for a bit.
Then
we were both kind of getting antsy to see Katelyn again so we had lunch
at a little seafood place and headed home! It was really great and we
were able to relax and enjoy "togetherness". I felt refreshed when we
got home.
