ORIGINAL POST
Since Friday Katelyn and Mike have been very sick with a vicious stomach virus( and all that that entails. And I do mean ALL) The stomach thing then turned into chills, fatigue and fever. They seem to be doing better today but we still stayed home from church. Feels weird not being there today!!
My poor Mother-in-law(henceforth to be known as MIL) contracted this vicious virus the night before Thanksgiving so she stayed put in her room all Thanksgiving day. She had been able to do most of the cooking and setting the table before she got sick so there was very little left to do Thanksgiving day. It was very funny to see my brother in law(BIL) and father in law(FIL)rushing around trying to take care of the last minute cooking. I helped with the veggies while BIL stirred the gravy and baked the rolls. FIL carved the turkey. My job this year was dessert. I made my very first apple pie, pumpkin bread and brownies. So, we had our Thanksgiving meal without my MIL for the first time. The food was still delicious and we had a good time. Katelyn ate next to nothing but was somehow starving for dessert. We then watched a movie and relaxed the rest of the day. My BIL gave Katelyn her belated birthday present from him which she was and still is enamored with. He gave her a Dora Vanity Table that is really cute. Dora's head sits on top of the vanity(kinda creepy) and it comes with a pretend blow dryer and other assorted hair accessories. Katelyn loves to sit on the little stool that came with it and comb Dora's hair and fix her up. She will also fix herself up too.
Friday Mike decided to clean out our sunroom/office as it was literally a DISASTER. It was pretty much a junk room and an embarrassment. We had TWO desks in there! Who needs two desks?!! We freecycled the cheap one and now my laptop, office stuff etc is on the nice desk that was supposed to Mike's. So he reorganized and cleaned it out so we could move some of the toys in the living room in there to make way for our Christmas tree. But, before we decorated the tree we decided to do a little Black Friday shopping. We left Katelyn at my inlaws house for a few hours(which was probably not a good idea with my MIL still recovering. She was feeling a lot better and we dropped K off at her insistence) We didn't really do that much shopping and apparently went at a good time. We left to go shopping about 4:00 pm. There was no traffic on the main shopping drag in the town we went to go shopping in. And the MALL was on this road! Gasp!! By this point I wasn't really in a huge shopping mood so I didn't feel like going to too many places. We went to Casual Mal Big and Tall so Mike could get some dress shirts. This store is usually very expensive but we were able to get some good deals there. We then went to Sam's(I know, of all places right? This is exciting stuff, people) to see if they had any end tables for sale. Nope. Nothing exciting going on there. I did, however, find my first gift for Mike. And since I know he doesn't really read my blog I'll share with you what I got him...in my next post. It deserves one all of it's own :o) Anyway, we then went to pick up Katelyn and get home to decorate our tree.
I wish I could tell you we had the festive, jolly evening I had planned with Christmas music playing and me taking cute pictures of the girls as they gazed in excitement, awe and wonder at our tree. But that's not quite how it happened. That's when the "you know what" hit the "you know what". Katelyn was laying all over the floor and not quite as excited about the tree as I had hoped. She was interested in hanging a couple of ornaments but in general was just laying around. She had also mentioned that she wasn't feeling good. The she erupted all over our floor. She did this about 3 or 4 times. The Christmas tree decorating was put on hold for a bit. We put Katelyn to bed and then a couple of hours later Mike started getting sick with the stomach virus. So he was up all night with it. Thankfully Katelyn only woke twice throwing up before we even went to bed and then slept soundly the rest of the night. Yesterday they both just mellowed for awhile and then got fever last night. Katelyn slept well even with her fever. Mike had an ok night. This morning they are both a lot better. So far, neither Madelyn or I have gotten anything. Yet. But I'm standing guard!
