Katelyn decided a few days ago that Mimi needed some rest and a little fresh air. So she stuck her in our open window.Now that's the life.

Where's Mimi?

This is Katelyn's Mimi. It's her lovey. Her best friend. The thing she takes everywhere and sleeps with at night.

Katelyn likes to place Mimi in all sorts of random spots. Mimi has feelings and needs and Katelyn tries to fulfill each one. She puts Mimi in different spots depending on what Mimi's requiring at the time. I closely cropped this picture.

Where has Katelyn placed Mimi this time? Any guesses?

Taking guesses until 3:00 this afternoon. Then I'll post "the big picture", so to speak.

My entry was this video of Steph and me singing at my parent's church while I was there this past March. Many of you have seen this video already. I have to apologize for the TWO videos because my mom accidentally shut of the camera for a second while filming and started back up again. The first video has several seconds of the beginning of the song and the second has the rest. Just to clarify for the contest I'm singing with my sister Steph, my brother Bryan is on guitar, my cousin David is on bass and brother-in-law Waylon is out of view on drums.

Mike drew this picture of what was supposed to be a silly picture of Katelyn the other day. When Mike asked her who  she thought it was she said " Is that________???"

We had a pretty good laugh over who she thought this was since it's a pretty silly picture.

Christmas In May?

 Wow. You guys are goooood. We have a winner! Yes, someone actually guessed correctly what this picture is. Well, two people, actually, because one of my friends put the correct answer on Facebook but chose a different answer to post on here (Karina....)

 

Alicia guessed that this was a christmas tree and she would be correct!! I, like so many others, thought this was a dinosaur but Katelyn has different ideas about her art. Thanks for playing you guys! Everyone had fantastic guesses.

In lieu of Kid-Terview Friday, I've posted this little contest. Katelyn drew this picture the other day and your job is to guess what it is!

The 15 Albums That Changed My Life

I got "tagged" by my friend , Lisa, for this note on Facebook and thought I'd share it on my blog as well.  It took me a while to come up with this list. This list includes albums that I listened to growing up to the present day. I listened to mostly what my parent's listened to until I developed  tastes of my own. That is why there is such an ecclectic mix on here! I do associate people, emotions and feelings with these albums. Just writing this brought me down memory lane. It's amazing how certain songs bring back smells, feelings, certain people and emotional attachments.My musical tastes have changed through the years so some of these I don't even listen to anymore. But here they are in no particular order.

Think of 15 albums that had such a profound effect on you they changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, years. These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people and emotions. These are the albums that no matter what they were thought of musically shaped your world.

This is not a favorite albums list, but a list of albums that had a profound impact on you.


1. Mariah Carey-Music Box (evokes memories of mooning over my crushes and writing about them in  my journal) ((highschool)

2. Mariah Carey-Emotions (highschool)

3. Celine Dion- The Colour Of My Love(  highschool and college)

4. The Beach Boys-Endless Summer (highschool)

5. Kenny Loggins- Return To Pooh Corner (This reminds me of my first "real" job. The infant room at a day care I worked at. We listened to this CD all the time. I love it. I play it for my girls' naptimes now. It's soothing and beautiful) (early college years until present)

6. DC Talk-Free At Last(highschool)

7. Michael W Smith-Change Your World  (evokes more memories of mooning over boys and writing in my journal) (highschool)

8. Amy Grant-Compilation tape that included songs from Age To Age,The Collection And Heart In Motion  ( The first solo performance I did for highschool choir was "Father's Eyes" by Amy Grant)(highschool)

9. Backstreet Boys- Backstreet's Back.  I was a HUGE BSB fan!! (early college years)

10. The Carpenters- The Singles (For some reason this album evokes memories of planning my wedding. I love this album and so many of these songs are classic love songs) (college years until present)

11.Josh Groban- Josh Groban (present day)

12.Maranatha Music- (I'm not sure what album it was but it was a collection of praise songs that we listened to all the time. Some of them we sang as a family on deputation)(elementary school)

13. John Denver-Back Home Again( My dad listened to this so I think this is the album. It has all the songs I know on it. We even sang "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" as a family at a church function once) (elementary and junior high school)

14. Steve Green-People Need The Lord (another album my parents listened to that I learned all the words to. One of the first solos I ever did was "People Need The Lord") ( elementary school)

15. Unknown Oldies Tape- I loooved this tape.It had classics from the 50's and 60's. Don't know what the tape was called and I can't seem to find it online. I listened to it in highschool.

 

This was fun! It took a lot of thought, work and googling but it brought back some good memories and made me pull out some CD's I want to listen to again.

Now I need to write in my journal and listen to some BSB, or Josh Groban ....or Mariah Carey...

Sigh.

My First Official Book Review....(is coming!)

I have been approached via e-mail by two different publicists to review some upcoming books on my blog. I was very flattered and excited. I think they found me from my blog listing on Blogher. I'm listed under "mommy and family blogs". (Or something like that!!) I chose to review two Christian parenting type books. I recently received "Mommy Grace", due out in April. I look forward to reading and reviewing it. I will probably overthink it and labor over it for days. But, hey, it's my first real book review! It could cause this book to sink or swim! My review could change the popularity tide! Or something. Or not.

*Tooting my own horn*

Moving on....

 According to the nice publicist I'm in contact with:  

a) It's up to me what I post ( be it positive or negative) about the book. I thought maybe there were some  sort of restrictions, like-I couldn't post any kind of negative review.

b) There really are no "rules". They would like the book read and reviewed by the time it comes out and she would like a "heads-up" when I've posted my review.

c) If they see they can consistently depend on me to review the books in a timely and concise fashion they'll most likely send me more. (For free!!)

d) I can also host a giveaway for 5 copies of each title and they will send the copies to the winners. How cool is that?? I see a contest/giveaway in the near future...
